In
goal this week
Week 10
ending on Sunday, December 6th 2009
With Goalies’World Magazine editor, Gilles
Moffet
Goalies’World rankings
Ryan Miller’s still in
the lead
For a second straight Monday Ryan Miller, of the
Buffalo Sabres is the Goalies’World rankings leader with a rock solid 16-5-2,
1.85, .936 record, leading the NHL in goals against average and save percentage
and he’s co-leader in wins (16) and shutouts (3). Talking about shutouts that’s
how Miller began the 10th week of activity in the NHL with a 38
saves 4-0 whitewash over the Toronto Maple Leafs. He allowed two goals per game
in his two other games of the week, a 6-2, 21 saves home win against Montreal
and a 2-1, 30 saves loss against the Rangers
Goalies’World goalie of the
week
Again, it’s Miikka
Kiprusoff
Miikka Kiprusoff, of the Calgary Flames is on a roll
and he’s our Goalie of the Week for a second straight week. Kipper was
outstanding again with a 2-1-0, .966, 1.01 record that began with a 22 saves,
2-0 shutout in Nashville on
Monday. Kiprusoff was solid again in Phoenix on Thursday making 29 saves in a
2-1 loss and his best performance probably came on Saturday in San Jose, a 2-1,
35 saves effort. Kiprusoff now ranks 2nd at Goalies’World with 10306
points and he’s very close to Ryan Miller at 10365. This looks like a serious
race.
Stealers of the week
Dan Ellis steals one
from Chicago
There were only three stolen wins this week and Dan
Ellis, of the Nashville Predators is our stealer of the week in a 34 saves, 4-1
win over the dangerous Chicago Blackhawks. That was a very big win for the
Predators who are now five points away from the Hawks.

Jeff Deslauriers
Jeff Deslauriers gave the Edmonton Oilers two big wins
on the road this week including one at the Joe Louis Arena, a 4-1, 27 saves
performance against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday. The lefthanded
goaltender was awesome in Dallas on Saturday, leading his team to a 33 saves,
3-2 shootout win. Deslauriers stopped four of five shootout attemps. A huge
night for the 6 foot 4 lefty from Saint-Jean, Quebec.
