Goalies’World rankings
Ryan Miller’s back in
the lead
For the second Monday in three weeks, Ryan Miller, of
the Buffalo Sabres is the Goalies’World rankings leader with a 14-4-2, 1.93,
.933 record. He leads the league in goals against average and save percentage.
Miller had a solid week again with a 2-1-0, .943, 1.70 record, allowing a total
of 5 goals on 88 shots, losing 2-0 (22 saves) in Washington on Wednesday, and
winning 4-2 (31 saves) in Philadelphia on Friday and at 5-1 home (30 saves)
against Carolina on Saturday.
Goalies’World goalie of the
week
Miikka Kiprusoff was
red hot
Miikka Kiprusoff was truly outstanding this week for
the Calgary Flames, stopping 96 of 99 shots and turning in a 2-0-1, .970, 0.98
record. There’s been other real
hot goalies this week such as Ryan Miller, Martin Brodeur, and J.S. Giguere
among others, but Kipper deserves our weekly honour. He made 29 saves on 31 shots
in a 3-2 shootout loss (1/3) in Anaheim on Monday. Two days later he made
27saves in a 2-1 home win against Phoenix and on Friday he was just awesome in
Detroit, shutting out the Red Wings in a 3-0, 40 saves, stolen win.
.
Stealers of the week
Dwayne Roloson stops
58
Despite two 40 saves shutouts from Ondrej Pavelec
(Atlanta) and Miikka Kiprusoff (Calgary) our stealer of the week award has to
go to Dwayne Roloson of the New York Islanders, who made a robbery on Monday at
the Air Canada Centre, stopping 58 of 61 shots in a 4-3 stolen win over the
Toronto Maple Leafs. The Islanders were outshot 61-21, a 3/1 ratio. For
Roloson, those 58 saves were a career high.

Tuukka Rask tops the
rookies
Tuuka Rask (featured in issue 74) was just outstanding
in goal this week for the Boston Bruins with a 2-0-1, .959, 1.27 record, and
he’s certainly our rookie of the week. He helped the Bruins to a 4-2, 31 saves
win in St. Louis on Monday and to a 2-1, 28 saves win in Minnesota on Wednesday
before losing in the shootout at home on Friday against the Devils. Rask
stopped 36 of 37 shots in 65 minutes of play before giving up two goals on three
shootout attempts.
